Located across the street from Hunter Library on the campus of
Western Carolina University, Cullowhee Baptist Church welcomes all
students. We offer students opportunities to practice their
faith within a multi-generational congregation. Many students sing in
our choir, work with our children and youth, and participate in our
mission opportunities as well. They also participate in worship and Bible
study. February Mission Opportunities
There are three great opportunities to be mission minded this month through Cullowhee Baptist Church.
First, this Sunday, February 5, right after the worship service, we will have our Souper Bowl Lunch in the Fellowship Hall. There will be 7 different soups, breads and desserts, and dozens of elderly folks in Jackson County to help with our generosity. The meal is free but donations will be accepted for the Jackson County Council on Aging's home repair projects for those in our county who can’t afford to do them otherwise. Everyone is invited to come and eat. Invite your friends, too -- we'll gladly give their money away to help those in need.
Second, the Global Women Missions Group will meet this coming Monday, February 6 at 6:00pm at the home of Tonya Vickery, [contact the church office for address] for a potluck meal. Global Women is an ecumenical mission’s movement with a vision of a world where every woman is empowered by the love of God, valued by her community, and equipped to fulfill her unique purpose. We will meet to fellowship, pray, think and discover ways we can do something life-changing by helping other women, especially those who are profoundly unreached. You will even have time to make it back to the church for the Cooperative Student Fellowship Meeting at 7:30!
Third, Stock the shelves and feed our neighbors! The shelves in the foyer of the sanctuary are empty. So are many of the shelves at United Christian Ministries. During the next 4 Sundays, we will have a real/actual/literal set of empty shelves at church that we want you to help us fill. Bring in non-perishable foods. Let's make the shelves full of good things, hopeful things, rather than standing there empty and sad. By the way, you don't have to wait until Sunday. The shelves are there now, and will be everyday this month. Go shopping; bring your offering of food; and know you are giving to those in need. It's a gospel perspective on food!
